Long Island has changed little over time and this is what makes it such an appealing place. This means, though, that it has a limited infrastructure and facilities. The islanders lived without electricity until the 1990s so even the younger inhabitants can remember this era. There are 2 health clinics (the nearest is 15 mins away at Simms), 2 airports (at Deadman’s Cay and Stella Maris), 2 resorts (at Cape Santa Maria and Stella Maris) and a number of other smaller guest houses/properties. The island has several fish packing/processing plants and gas stations about every 20 mins along the Queen’s Highway (main road that runs north to south). There is a broadband internet service.
