STOP PRESS: As of December 18th 2009, Locair starting twice-weekly direct flights from Fort Lauderdale to Stella Maris. These flights leave and return on a Wednesday and Sunday afternoon (and are rumoured to run on a Friday too from time to time during the high season), and take approx 1 hour flying time. Whilst allowing you to miss out on a stop in Nassau, please note that the flights leave from the other side of Fort Lauderdale airport, and you therefore need to allow time to catch a bus round to the terminal, and back on your return. Please also check on flight availability and flight schedules. Prices seem to vary from approx $175 to $225 each way + taxes.
Please check current schedules before booking as they are prone to change: www.locair.net/

Direct charter services are offered out of Ft. Lauderdale and other Southern Florida destinations, but these are often found to be quite pricey. This is due to the overall distance, and the fact that on one leg of the journey the plane seats are sitting empty, which... well, like it our not, you are paying for. Now it is all dependant on the size/model of the plane, and the passenger seats utilized, but you are probably looking at the neighborhood of minimum $400 to $500 per person each way for this trip, but this is just a basic estimate outline, each case will vary, and deals can be had. Travel times will also vary dependant on the size and model of plane, but will probably take 2+hours... then of course we recently had guests arrive by small jet and arrive in just over one hour!
